On August 17, 2021 Kerry Sluchinski presented on Digital Othering: A discursive pragmatic approach to Korean third person referential forms in digital Korean Comfort Women discourses. The presentation focused on the usage of third person referential forms in Korean used to call Comfort Women at the International Circle of Korean Linguistics 2021 (ICKL 2021).
On June 27, 2021 Kerry Sluchinski presented on The Other’s Other: A comparative discursive pragmatic approach to third person referential forms in digital Korean and Japanese Comfort Women discourses. The presentation focused on the translation, from Korean to Japanese, of third person referential forms used to call Comfort Women and the role this translation plays in identity construction and how it reflects attitudes towards Comfort Women at the 17th International Pragmatics Conference (IPrA 17th).
On June 8, 2021 Kerry Sluchinski presented on Referential Forms in Digital LGBTQ+ Discourses which focused on the use of TA and other third person pronoun variants and their roles in identity construction at e-Sociolinguistics Symposium 23 (e-SS23).
On March 18, 2021 Kerry Sluchinski and Jordan Gallant presented on Gendered & Non-Gendered Pronoun Resolution which focused on the use of TA in comparison to 她 ‘she’ and 他 ‘he’ at Discourse in Corpus and Experimental Data: Bridging the Methodological Gap [DisCorX 2021].
